Update as of Friday January 29th 2021
As of January 29th, 2021, Canada has a total of 769,408 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 264,300 cases with Toronto having 84,653 cases. 
--- New cases of COVID-19 dip below 2,000 threshold, Ontario reports 58 additional deaths --- The number of new cases of COVID-19 has dipped back below 2,000 after a one-day increase on Thursday, which marks the resumption of the downward trend in the province.

Update as of Thursday January 28th 2021
As of January 28th, 2021, Canada has a total of 764,687 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 262,463 cases with Toronto having 83,935 cases.
--- Ontario reports 2,093 new COVID-19 cases, 56 more deaths --- The province is reporting over 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 today, as testing completion rose significantly.

Update as of Wednesday January 27th 2021
As of January 27th, 2021, Canada has a total of 760,020 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 260,370 cases with Toronto having 83,474 cases. 
--- Ontario records lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in more than two months with less than 1,700 infections --- The COVID-19 case numbers in Ontario have dropped to levels that have not been seen in over two months, as there were 1, 670 new cases reported today.

Update as of Tuesday January 26th 2021
As of January 26th, 2021, Canada has a total of 754,751 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 258,700 cases with Toronto having 82,790 cases. 
--- Ontario reports more than 1, 700 COVID-19 cases, 63 more deaths --- There were over 30,700 tests processed in the last 24 hours, and the province’s positivity rate is now 5.9 percent, compared to 5.5 percent on Monday.

Update as of Friday January 22nd 2021
As of January 22nd, 2021, Canada has a total of 734,113 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 250,226 cases with Toronto having 80,541 cases.
​--- Ontario reports 2,664 new cases of COVID-19, 87 deaths --- Ontario is reporting close to 2,700 new cases of the virus today, as well as 87 more deaths. The province is seeing some evidence that transmission in the community is slowing, as hospitalizations and active cases continue to decline and the positivity rate drops to its lowest level in over a month.

As of January 21st, 2021, Canada has a total of 730,208 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 247,564 cases with Toronto having 79,767 cases.
--- Ontario reports more than 2,600 new cases of COVID-19, 46 additional deaths --- The province reported 2,632 new cases of COVID-19 today, but officials say that this number includes infections from a previous day due to a technical issue.

Ontario reports fewer than 2,000 new infections amid big drop in testing --- The province is reporting 1,913 new cases today, however only 34,000 tests were processed in the last 24 hours. This the lowest number of tests completed in a 24-hour period in several weeks.

As of January 18th, 2021, Canada has a total of 712,831 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 240,364 cases with Toronto having 76,467 cases.

The province reported a considerable drop in new COVID-19 cases and deaths today, which could partially be due to a fall in testing rates.

As of January 15th, 2021, Canada has a total of 688,891 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 231,308 cases with Toronto having 73,675 cases.
--- Ontario records just under 3,000 new infections, 100 more COVID-19-related deaths --- The province is recording a spike in the number of people who have died due to COVID-19, as Ontario reports 2,998 new cases of the virus.

As of January 14th, 2021, Canada has a total of 686,786 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 228,310 cases with Toronto having 72,679 cases.
--- Ontario reports 3,326 new COVID-19 cases, 62 more deaths --- The province is reporting over 3,300 new cases of COVID-19 today, as the provincial stay-at-home order comes into effect.

As of January 13th, 2021, Canada has a total of 677,434 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 224,984 cases with Toronto having 71,923 cases.
--- Ontario logs close to 3,000 new COVID-19 cases, 74 more deaths --- The province is reporting 2,961 new cases of COVID-19 today, which is nearly 1,000 less than the record 3,945 cases confirmed on Jan. 10th.

As of January 12th, 2021, Canada has a total of 673,018 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 222,023 cases with Toronto having 71,078 cases. 
--- Ontario reports 2,903 new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations up 180 in one day --- The province is reporting more than 2,900 new COVID-19 cases along with 41 more deaths. Provincial labs processed 44, 800 tests in the last 24 hours, with another 43,100 awaiting 
processing.

As of January 11th, 2021, Canada has a total of 663,627 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 219,120 cases with Toronto having 70,127 cases. 
--- Ontario’s COVID-19 death toll surpasses 5,000, province sets new record for hospitalizations --- Today, the province is reporting 3,338 new infections of COVID-19. A new record for most cases reported in a single day was set on Sunday, with 3,945 cases logged and no backlogs were accounted for.

--- Ontario breaks another single-day record of COVID-19 infections --- The province broke another record on Friday, recording more than 4,200 new cases of COVID-19.

As of January 7, 2021, Canada has a total of 630,319 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 204,145 cases with Toronto having 65,521 cases.
--- Ontario breaks COVID-19 records with more than 3,500 new cases, 89 deaths --- The province is reporting 3,519 new cases of COVID-19 today. This is a new record for Ontario, and a significant increase from the 3,266 infections logged one day earlier.

As of January 6, 2021, Canada has a total of 625, 051 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 200,626 cases with Toronto having 65,521 cases.
--- Ontario reports more than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases, 37 more deaths ---
The province is reporting more than 3,000 new cases of COVID-19 for a third consecutive day, with 3,266 new infections recorded today. The seven-day rolling average now stands at 3,113 compared to 2,309 one week ago.

As of January 4, 2021, Canada has a total of 604,923 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ontario itself has 194,232 cases with Toronto having 63,003 cases.
--- Ontario logs more than 3,200 new cases, 29 more deaths --- The province has reported 3,270 new COVID-19 cases and 29 more deaths linked to the virus over the past 24 hours.  The highest number of cases reported in a single day in Ontario was seen on Saturday when 3,363 infections were recorded.
